Good article on Diabetes
This is one of the best articles I've seen to summarize pre-diabetes and diabetes. It's good to read if you have any of the risk factors like being overweight, and how to change your lifestyle to keep diabetes away. Or if you're helping someone else try to prevent it.

Since I had gestational diabetes and one priming incident that pushed me into pre-diabetes, this article illustrates why I take such care with my diet and exercise even though I'm not overweight. I watched one of my obese grandparents deal with the complications, and there is no way I want to go there.

One easy thing I do: pass on restaurant meals, especially if I need to exercise instead. The most difficult part is getting the exercise in, because of how much I'm trying to do in a day. There just aren't enough hours.

That is an excellent starter article on (pre-)diabetes. Thanks for sharing!

Ah, yeah, that's a risky situation. Good that you're aware! Of course everyone can benefit from better diet and exercise. One thing I do in restaurants which isn't perfect, but helps, is to only eat appetizers instead of full meals. I don't get anything fried, full of fat, beef, etc.

Yes, for restaurants I do try to eat lightly and often either order only one course whether a appetizer or entree.

But going out to the restaurant in the first place watching people eat for 1.5 hours (or more) when I have very few hours and need exercise just isn't where I want or should go with those spare hours. Psychologically, I also find it's better for me to have the appetite suppressence effect of exercise rather than the feeling deprived watching other eat even though I'm not actually hungry.

I've instead been trying to schedule other activities with people so I can get social time in that's not over a table. It's a much better use of my time and healthier for me.
